Adventure Out Trips 2002 and 2003                               Home
Last year (2002), our second year leading adventure tours, saw a massive increase in bookings- to five!
We ran two trips, one Top of the South trip based in Golden Bay (with clients John, Steve and Hugh), and one custom- made trip for John (who'd adventured with us the previous year) and his partner Leonard.

The weather in New Zealand in 2002 was not exactly good, but we were lucky with our timing (for example, the heavens opened and 8 inches of rain fell just minutes after we finished a 3 day tramp over Mt Owen!). Our 3 adventurers all enjoyed theirselves immensely, Hugh particularly rising to challenges he never thought he'd surmount!

The weather improved a little for John and Leonard's trip, for which we had been asked to put together an itinerary with as much tramping as possible for Leonard. This started with a truely magnificent crossing of the Ball Pass, on the flanks of Mt Owen, followed by a crossing of Mt Owen, then (after a rest day at Autumn Farm), the Heaphy Track ( one of NZ's Great Walks, crossing from Golden Bay to the West Coast). Unfortunately, exhaustion and bad weather contributed to aborting this last walk after the first day!

For 2003, New Zealand put on some awsome summer weather- months of uninterupted sunshine! Unfortunately, our trips were not so well subscribed, with only 2 clients (Nick and Robert) split between two trips- Nick on the Top of the South Trip, and Robert on the Wild West Trip. Both trips were an unqualified success in terms of enjoyment, if financially unrewarding for us!

Some photos from the 2003 trips are posted on this page for your enjoyment (and to show Steve and Hugh that the sun really does shine in NZ!).
